Celebrating the 3rd Annual Safe Summer Kick-Off: A Community Coming Together

Roseland, Chicago, IL — June 25, 2026 — The Youth Peace Center of Roseland proudly hosted its 3rd Annual Safe Summer Kick-Off on Thursday, June 25th, welcoming over 200 community members of all ages, from toddlers to seniors.

The event took place at YPC, bringing together residents, local organizations, and partners to kick off the summer season with a celebration of safety, unity, and community resilience.

The event featured a diverse array of community resources and services provided by local organizations dedicated to supporting mental health, community development, education, employment, health and wellness, and safety initiatives. Attendees had access to vital information and support, strengthening the fabric of our community.

Entertainment was lively and engaging, highlighted by performances from Chicago Youth Works Dancers. Families enjoyed a variety of activities, including coloring stations, chess tables, and UNO games—designed to foster positive interactions across generations.

A key highlight was the Personal Needs Station, offering free clothing, shoes, and diapers to community members in need. Additionally, many attendees took advantage of free haircuts provided during the event, promoting confidence and self-care.

Food stations offered a variety of delicious options, energizing guests for a day of fun and community bonding. The event also featured a DJ, creating a festive atmosphere, along with a punch card redemption station that hosted raffles and prizes, contributing to the event’s joyful spirit.

Safety was prioritized throughout the event, with support from local police, volunteers, and community organizations working together to ensure a secure and welcoming environment.
