The YPC CRED Men/Youth program has made significant strides in transforming the lives of young people in the Roseland area. Over the course of the program, 120 youth have actively participated, with an average of 30 participants engaging each quarter. This targeted approach is projected to reduce violence and gun-related crimes in the community by 50% between 2024 and 2025, translating to a decrease from approximately 400 violent crimes and shootings down to around 200 in 2025-26.

The program boasts a high completion rate of 92%, reflecting strong engagement and commitment from participants. Among those who completed the program:

• 10% enrolled in onsite high school programs, with an outstanding 98% graduation rate, enabling them to earn their diplomas and continue their educational journeys.

• 5% pursued higher education, with all achieving success and securing scholarships, opening pathways to college and career opportunities.

• A remarkable 87% earned valuable certifications in areas such as unarmed security, food and sanitation, and first aid, equipping them with skills to enter the workforce confidently.

Project Connect engaged 60 youth in a comprehensive program designed to build tangible skills and pathways to employment. With a 93% completion rate, participants gained practical experience and opportunities for career advancement.

• 20% of participants acquired skills in trades and technical fields, preparing them for careers in construction, manufacturing, and other skilled labor industries.

• Over half of the participants—52%—secured job placements, gaining real-world experience and financial independence.

• Additionally, 22% were referred to partner organizations and programs, expanding their support networks and access to further opportunities for growth.

IYIP focused on providing youth with essential safety and workforce certifications to boost employability and community safety. Out of 45 participants, 86% successfully completed the program, earning certifications such as:

• Flaggers certification—crucial for directing traffic safely on construction sites.

• 10 hours of OSHA safety training, ensuring participants are prepared for workplace safety standards and practices.

The Peace Ambassadors program empowered 50 youth to become active leaders and advocates for peace within their communities. With a 93% completion rate, participants demonstrated their commitment to creating positive change:

• All participants shared positive messages and initiatives on social media, helping to foster community unity and counter violence.

• They signed peace agreements, reaffirming their dedication to nonviolence and conflict resolution.

• Each youth completed 20 hours of social service, actively contributing to community projects and support efforts, fostering a culture of peace and resilience.

Since its inception, the YPC Mentoring Basketball League has made a profound difference in the lives of young men in our community. Starting with just 25 participants, the program has grown to serve over 250 young men, providing a positive and structured environment for growth and development.

To date, there have been more than 1,000 mentoring sessions conducted, during which mentors have poured into the lives of these young men, offering guidance, support, and encouragement. Over half of the participants in our program have successfully completed the YPC/CRED program, a testament to the program’s effectiveness in fostering a supportive community where young men feel valued and motivated to change their mindsets.

The basketball league has played a vital role in keeping these young men out of negative influences and away from the streets. It has provided them with a sense of accomplishment, purpose, and belonging, empowering them to pursue a brighter future. Through sports, mentorship, and community engagement, the YPC Mentoring Basketball League continues to be a catalyst for positive change and hope in our community.
