YPC CRED Men / Youth
Empowering Young Men for Safe, Strong, and Stable Communities
The YPC CRED Men/Youth program is committed to supporting young men at high risk of gun violence. Through a structured timeline of personalized services, the program builds a strong support network, encourages personal growth, and promotes economic stability. Participants receive dedicated guidance from outreach workers, life coaches, therapists, job coaches, and tutors, focusing on early engagement, consistent support, and skill development. By addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term success, YPC CRED Men/Youth aims to create safer, more empowered communities.
Mission: To support high-risk young men with mentorship, resources, and skills that foster safety, community connection, and economic independence, reducing violence and strengthening neighborhoods.
Our Approach
-
YPC Roseland establishes a strong support network early in the participant journey to enhance communication and goal alignment. Each "Base Team," comprising Outreach Workers, Life Coaches, Therapists, Job Coaches, and Education Tutors from Outreach, Programming, and Education & Training (E&T), meets with participants during outreach and every six weeks thereafter. These teams collaborate to provide holistic support and make collective decisions on participant progress and promotions.
-
Our 24-week "Timeline of Services" guides participants through a structured process of engagement, growth, and stability. It begins with identification and outreach, progressing through phases of rapport building, self-determination, community involvement, and employment training, all aimed at fostering personal development and community safety.
Candidate Identification (Weeks 1-2)
Outreach workers identify and engage young men and women at the highest risk of being involved in gun violence, focusing on both potential perpetrators and victims.Outreach and Engagement (Weeks 3-10)
Outreach teams build rapport with new participants, introduce them to the program, and establish non-aggression commitments. Participants meet their support teams and begin participating in formal services.Phase 1: Self-Determination (Weeks 11-26)
Focused on motivation and disengagement from violence, life coaches and clinicians work closely with participants to develop life skills, increase stability, set goals, and enhance self-regulation.Phase 2: Community Building (Weeks 11-26)
Building on previous work, this phase emphasizes community action, aiming to shift attitudes, improve relationships, and strengthen participants’ connections to violence prevention efforts.Employment & Training (Weeks 27-48)
The final stage centers on economic stability, equipping participants with the skills necessary for gainful employment and long-term self-sufficiency.
