YPC Mentoring Basketball League

Established in 2024, the YPC Basketball League is a community-driven program dedicated to youth engagement, mentoring, and promoting health and safety. While primarily focused on basketball, the league also supports justice-involved youth and workforce development. Over the years, the league has grown to include five teams: YPC, Phalanx, Thornridge, Ballaholics, and PC3. It provides a consistent platform for young athletes to develop their skills, build teamwork, and foster community spirit.

YPC Basketball League Teams

Mission: To provide a safe, inclusive space where youth—including justice-involved individuals—can develop life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. We promote health, mentorship, community pride, and workforce development, believing every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive both on and off the court.

Our Approach

    • Teams: YPC, Phalanx, Thornridge, Ballaholics, PC3

    • Meetings: The teams meet twice a week for practices and games

    • Duration: The league operates throughout the basketball season, encouraging regular participation and progression

  • The primary goal of the YPC Basketball League is to create a positive environment where youth, including justice-involved individuals, can learn important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. The league emphasizes inclusive participation, health, mentorship, and community involvement, aiming to support the growth of young people both on and off the court.

Impact of the YPC Mentoring Basketball League

Starting with 25 participants, the program has grown to serve over 250 young men, with more than 1,000 mentoring sessions conducted. Over half of the participants have completed the YPC/CRED program, feeling supported and motivated to change their mindsets. The league has helped keep young men out of the streets, providing a sense of achievement, purpose, and positive direction for their future. Check out our Overall Impact
