Project Connect

Connecting Communities to Opportunity and Peace

Project Connect is a transformative initiative of the Youth Peace Center of Roseland dedicated to reducing violence and opening pathways to opportunity for at-risk youth and re-entering citizens. Serving residents of Roseland, Pullman, and the Far South Side, the program targets individuals aged 18-28 who face unemployment, social challenges, or involvement with the justice system. Over four-month cycles, participants engage in comprehensive services designed to foster personal growth, community safety, and economic stability.

Mission: Project Connect aims to reduce violence and promote safety by providing at-risk youth and re-entering citizens with the skills, support, and opportunities to build positive, productive lives.

Our Approach

  • Educate participants on the roots of violence, conflict resolution, anger management, and effective communication. These workshops empower individuals to recognize triggers and choose safer, more constructive responses.

  • Prepare participants for the workforce through resume development, interview skills, workplace etiquette, and digital literacy, connecting them to sectors such as construction, foodservice, warehousing, and janitorial services.

  • Provide personalized guidance to help participants set goals, develop positive habits, and overcome personal barriers, fostering resilience and self-confidence.

  • Address holistic needs including mental health support, housing assistance, legal aid, and healthcare, ensuring participants have the resources they need to succeed.

Impact of Project Connect

Project Connect engaged 60 participants with a 93% completion rate. Of those, 20% gained skills in trades, and 52% secured job placements. Additionally, 22% were referred to partner organizations for ongoing support. The program has made a strong impact in empowering youth and connecting them to employment opportunities.
