Peace Ambassador Program
Empowering Youth to Lead with Peace and Purpose
The Youth Peace Center of Roseland (YPC) trains youth ages 16-24 as Peace Ambassadors to promote peace, character, and positive decision-making in Chicago's southside communities. In collaboration with four local agencies, participants engage in activities focused on life skills, job readiness, conflict resolution, and leadership. They also create media projects to inspire peers and foster safer, healthier communities.
Mission: The Youth Peace Ambassadors program empowers youth to promote peace, leadership, and positive decision-making, inspiring safer and stronger southside communities.
Our Approach
-
YPC will leverage digital platforms, communication channels, and print touchpoints to reach youth aged 16-24 across the southside communities. This strategic outreach ensures broad engagement and encourages youth participation.
-
We will recruit and train youth as Youth Peace Ambassadors, equipping them with leadership skills, conflict resolution techniques, and peace-building strategies. Ambassadors will serve as role models and community advocates.
-
YPC will develop and coordinate a network of four community agencies, each subcontracted to deliver positive enrichment activities. These agencies will focus on youth development around making healthy decisions related to character, safety, and social engagement.
-
Each partner agency will provide programming centered on life skills, job readiness, conflict resolution, leadership, and peace-building. These activities are designed to empower youth with the skills necessary for personal growth and community impact.
-
Participants will create, produce, and distribute media projects that promote peace and positive messaging to youth across southside communities, amplifying their voices and influence.
-
In addition to peace-building activities, youth will gain essential skills in job readiness, career exploration, and communication—preparing them for successful futures and active community participation.
